The River Nera Park
It is the park of the waters: the Velino and Nera rivers, the lake, the Marmore Falls. Along the river basin, the small fortified centres: Arrone, Ferentillo, Montefranco, Polino; the monastries, the watchtowers.
Higher up, above Il Salto del Cieco (Blind Mans Jump), flies the royal eagle. It is the park of the waters: rowing, rafting, canoeing. It is the park of free-climbing: the natural rocks, the vast artificial gym.
The river park, with its 2120 hectares, includes the river Nera in the middle-lower stretch of its course, from its border with the Province of Terni to where it converges with the Velino at the Marmore Falls: for about 18 km, in the middle of territories significative for environmental characteristics, for cultural, archaeological, and monumental testimonies.
The level of services offered by the three municipalities of the valley, as well as those in the nearby city of Terni, is particularly elevated. The restaurants and bars are plentiful and of first-rate quality, and efficiently enhance the products of the zone: the different kinds of fish, olive oil and truffles.
The park territory is rich in testimonies completely integrated with the environment. The mountain chain, the gorges, the towers perpendicular to the valley are full of charm and accessibility.
