Le Mura Ciclopiche (The Cyclopic Walls)
For over 700 metres, majestic walls have surrounded the city of Amelia for more than 2500 years. They are the cyclopic walls, among the most marvellous testimonies of pre-Roman Italic civilization. Their dimensions are conspicuous: they are 3.5 metres deep and over 8 metres high. They are formed from huge blocks fitted together without mortar, like an enormous puzzle. Popular fantasy has imagined that they were built by Cyclops, fabulous and gigantic figures from ancient mythology.
Museo del Germanico (The Museum of the German)
The new archaeological museum in Amelia contains an important collection of findings which come from the ancient Roman city of Ameria, from its origin up to the Middle Ages, distributed according to a thematic course. The most precious piece is without doubt the bronze statue of the German, found in pieces near Amelia, and patiently rebuilt and restored. A neoattic altar with dance scenes and the head of Alexander Augusto are contained in the museum.

The Roman Cisterns
An interesting itinerary to underground Amelia, leads the visitor to the inside of the ancient Roman cisterns, a conspicuous testimony of archaeology and important example of water engineering in the first and second centuries A.D: these are 10 large-sized rooms built for the city water supply. The average dimensions are between 18 and 20 metres in length and 5.5 and 10 centimetres in width. They are about 6 metres tall in volta key.
