The Roman Amphitheatre
In the Cathedral area, the Roman Amphitheatre is the most important testimony of Interamna (present day Terni). Recently, the object of radical restoration works which have guaranteed a major usability, the amphitheatre, which can hold about 10,000 spectators, was built in the year 32 B.C. on the orders of Fausto Tizio Liberale. The arena ellipse and the entry gates are easily recognisable. In summer the structure is used for shows and concerts. Today an auditorium, the church of Santa Maria del Carmine was built on one side of the amphitheatre.

The Warrior Tombs
In the recently realised Archaeological museum in the ex-industrial area of the Pontifical ironworks (ex Siri) the interesting and original findings of the pre-Roman city have found their place: the reconstruction of the Umbrian-Naharki tombs which come from the vast necropolis of Pentima and San Pietro in Campo. The funeral outfits, the bronze votive statues, the architectural elements of the Italic temples and a vast repertory of engravings, statues and findings from Roman Interamna.

The Roman city of Carsulae
Covering an area of over 20 hectares, the majestic ruins of the Umbrian-Roman city of Carsulae represent a unique site in Umbria for Archaeology lovers: an authentic open-air museum, on whose inside it is possible to walk along a lengthy stretch of the ancient Flaminia road with its original flagstones. On the sides of the road, the forum with the original twin temples dedicated to Castore and Polluce, the basilica, the thermal baths, the theatre and amphitheatre, immersed in the green fields and with the Martan mountains as background. Even more, the great arch of San Damiano (Saint Damian) and the area of monumental sepulchres (tombs). A modern service centre has recently been built in Carsulae, with a museum which hosts interesting findings from the city, built as a holiday resort and stopover for the legions returning to Rome near the San Gemini springs and abandoned during the century of Barbarian invasions. Carsulae is located between Terni and Acquasparta along the Via Carsulana.
